Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the ATP 500 in Barcelona due to a right wrist injury, which was already evident in yesterday's match against Finland's Otto Virtanen. The Spaniard, who was unable to practice today, will lose 280 ATP ranking points, thus losing his chance of immediately overtaking Jannik Sinner at number one.

"This is a more serious injury than we all expected, and I have to listen to my body to avoid future repercussions," Alcaraz explained. "It's with great sadness that I need to return home and get back into shape as soon as possible."
