It seems like a real spy story involving Filippo Tortu and Marcell Jacobs, Italian sprinters, rivals in the flesh, but great protagonists at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The story, reported today by “Il Fatto Quotidiano”, involves Giacomo, Tortu’s brother, who turned to the security and investigation company Equalize , under judicial investigation for illicit access to institutional databases, to obtain information on Marcell Jacobs’ suspected doping.

"I learned the news from the media. I trust that the facts will be clarified as soon as possible and that my name will not be associated with events from which I am totally unrelated", commented Filippo Tortu who won gold in the 4x100 relay in Tokyo in a team with the sprinter from Brescia.

No comment, however, for now, from Jacobs, but "pending further details and verifications he has instructed his lawyer to evaluate the legal aspects, as a possible injured party".

According to “Il Fatto Quotidiano”, Giacomo Tortu, in September 2020 – a year before the Olympics therefore – asked to be able to acquire the results of Jacobs’ blood tests . He also asked to have access to private communications between the athlete and his staff . Now the matter awaits further investigation and, above all, clarification.
