One hundred thousand visitors, eleven days of sport and music with over 1,500 students on the pitch in the 14 sports disciplines, over 30 artists and 150 volunteers.

These are the definitive numbers of the ninth edition of Ateneika, which was held from 1 to 11 June at Cus Cagliari, in the sports citadel of Sa Duchessa.

Among this year's guests also Lo Stato Sociale, Nesli, Meg, La Sad, Flaminio Maphia. The musical evenings were joined by two football evenings on the big screen: the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter and Cagliari's victorious final against Bari in the Serie B playoffs.

The medal collection was won by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery with 9 golds, 11 silvers and 8 bronzes. According to the winners of the last edition, the Faculty of Economic, Legal and Political Sciences with 7 golds, 5 silvers and 4 bronzes. On the lowest step of the podium, Engineering and Architecture (5 golds, 5 silvers, 6 bronzes). Fourth place for the Faculty of Sciences (4 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze), fifth Humanities (3 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze). Sixth place for Biology and Pharmacy (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze).

There were also other activities: the sports tournaments to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Pacinotti high school, the "A smile for Sara" athletics meeting, dedicated to the Sardinian absolute record holder of the 100m hurdles who died in 2014, the Sardinian stage of the Road Show Ttx . And then the afternoons dedicated to the unified sport of the Special Olympics Italy Team Sardinia.

«Ateneika is a unique festival in Italy: an event with free admission with quality music, university sport and a great community spirit. We hoped for this success and so it was», comments the president of Cus Cagliari, Marco Meloni. The vice-rector with responsibility for Sport, Gianni Fenu, was also satisfied. "The enthusiasm with which our student community and citizens welcomed the 2023 edition of Ateneika show us - he explains - how much sport is an essential moment of sharing from any educational and academic activity".
