The Sulis Tower returns to be a space for cultural encounters and reflection. On Friday, April 24, at 7:00 PM , the ancient walls of Alghero's iconic monument will host the presentation of Giacomo Oppia 's new book, "Raconti extra-vaganti della storia di Alghero ." The event promises to be an opportunity to revisit the city from a fresh perspective : that of lesser-known details, episodes that have remained marginalized by the grand historical narrative, yet powerfully convey the most authentic character of the Alghero community.

In this new volume, Oppia takes readers on a humorous and affectionate journey through characters, curiosities, anecdotes, and atmospheres rooted in the city's collective memory. This narrative departs from the usual itineraries of more celebratory historiography, focusing on seemingly secondary events that are actually invaluable for fully understanding Alghero's identity. The title itself, "extra-vaganti," recalls the nature of these texts: pages that roam the fringes of traditional narrative, amid forgotten details, mysteries, archival traces, and often overlooked fragments.

A journey that leaves no room for invention, but is grounded in rigorous, documented, and verified research, in keeping with the scholar's style. With this new publication, Giacomo Oppia continues his work of recovering and enhancing a local history capable of surprising, questioning, and bringing to light little-known aspects of the city's past. The presentation at the Torre di Sulis thus fits into a context of strong symbolic value, bringing one of Alghero's most distinctive sites back to the center of cultural life.
