The history, discovery and study of the late antique and medieval site of Fusti 'e Carca in Tertenia will be at the center of this afternoon's meeting , Thursday 30 May, in the Municipal Library of Olbia, starting at 5.30 pm .
The volume “ On the streets of Ogliastra ” (Editrice Taphros), by the archaeologist Paola Mancini , will see the public debut of the new Superintendent for the provinces of Sassari and Nuoro, the architect Isabella Fera , who, for the occasion, will be present in city with the archaeological officials Gabriella Gasperetti and Enrico Dirminti.
During the presentation , a comparison will be proposed between the site of Fusti 'e Carca and the municipality of Gallura , which are united by a road, other similarities and just as many differences in the various eras, Punic, Roman, Vandal and Byzantine.
Ogliastra, a nodal point of passage between the north and south of Sardinia - on the road between Carales and Olbia - also served as a link between the interior of the island and the eastern coast: in the book, the history of the archaeological site of Tertenia, frequented for a long period, from the 4th century BC to the mid-6th century AD (and which emerged during the construction of a section of the New SS125), also highlights the great synergy work between institutions (Anas and Superintendency), companies and archaeologists, a union of intent that has emphasized its relevance. Among the important innovations that will be illustrated, in addition to the discovery of the previously unpublished stretch of Roman road, «the large complex of environments and finds that open to the reading of late antiquity and the start of the early Middle Ages stands out, in a very delicate phase and among the least known in the history of Sardinia".
The author of the volume, the archaeologist Paola Mancini, a freelance professional, has always been involved in teaching and dissemination activities of the heritage of Sardinia . She is the author of five archaeological monographs: “Alà dei Sardi. The archaeological heritage”, “Loiri Porto San Paolo. The Origins”, “Oriental Gallura”, “Prehistoric Gallura” and “On the streets of Ogliastra”. Also at the conference were speeches by archaeologists Rubens D'Oriano and Giuseppe Pisanu
