The exhibition entitled: “ Others - Voices from the Silence” was inaugurated this morning at the National Museum “GA Sanna” in Sassari . The exhibition, which will be open until Saturday, is part of the activity of social awareness and reduction of inequalities on the issues of economic, social and environmental sustainability, as well as in the program of initiatives for the “Festival of Sustainable Development” .
On display are small works of art in pencil and tempera, created by Portuguese artists in the context of two forums involving people with mental illnesses. The works produced, inspired by prehistoric finds in the museum, are accompanied by testimonies from the artists, on art and artistic practice.
The exhibition aims to restore voice and dignity to disadvantaged people who are often marginalized by society due to the persistence of prejudices against mental illness, which is often considered embarrassing.
The title of the initiative evokes the temporal distance between the works exhibited and those that inspired them, and the silence to which they give voice, typical of the human condition and in particular that of the artists involved.
