Open Roads: New Italian Cinema or, more simply, Open Roads , is the Italian film festival organized every year at Lincoln Center in New York. Organized by the Istituto Luce Cinecittà and The Film Society of Lincoln Center, it is the most important North American event entirely dedicated to contemporary Italian cinema.

As usual, 15 Italian films have been selected. Among these is "The giants" by Bonifacio Angius , a production in which the Sassarian director is also a screenwriter, set designer and actor together with Stefano Deffenu, Michele Manca, Riccardo Bombagi, Stefano Manca, Francesca Niedda, Noemi Medas, Roberta Passaghe and Mila Angius.

The film produced by Il Monello with the support of the Sardegna Film Commission Foundation is in illustrious company. Suffice it to mention "Freaks out" by Gabriele Mainetti, who dominated the David di Donatello, "Ariaferma" by Leonardo di Costanzo awarded at the Baff and shot in the disused prison of San Sebastiano in Sassari, "Qui rido io" by Mario Martone, two David by Donatello, “Leonora addio” by Paolo Taviani and “Three floors” by Nanni Moretti.

After all, “I Giganti” has not only participated in the festivals of Berlin, Locarno, Russia and Scotland but has also won two awards at the Annecy Cinema Italien 2021.
