The hope is to return to school with the spirit of Hervé Tullet. Those who love books, particularly creative ones, know him very well. To others it must be explained that the French artist, born in 1958, is a writer and illustrator known throughout the world, winner of some of the most important prizes in the field of children's literature. Translated into over 20 languages, it was on the New York Times best seller list for several years in a row. Palazzo Doglio in Cagliari dedicates the weekend to him with an exhibition and two creative workshops open to children and adults, to celebrate art and imagination, just as the Maestro likes it, who unfortunately will not be present. In his place, the staff of the Museo in Erba of Lugano will operate, ambassadors of the Tullet method, a happy reality in Italian Switzerland, which for over twenty years has been working to enhance the art of children and for children.

The start

“Back to school with Hervé Tullet” is the title of the event which begins today, at 5pm, with the inauguration of the exhibition of the works created during the French artist's Art Academy, set up at Forte Village during the summer months from team of the Museo in Erba. The drawings that will be made on the day of the inauguration will also be part of the exhibition. In this way, thanks to the two initiatives, Sardinia contributes to the international project pursued by Tullet of an "Expo Idéale", i.e. an ideal exhibition, always open to new contributions. Presented to the public for the first time at the Montreal Book Fair in 2019, the “Expo Idéale” is a participatory creative process, in which the artist invites the public to draw inspiration from his creations in order to make them their own. Before arriving on the island, the Ticino institution held an Expo at the Tanween Festival in Saudi Arabia and before that in Lugano. For Tullet "art is art only if it is shared", and a book is not an object to be leafed through, just read. It is an invitation to play, preferably to play together with another person. Much less is it a game for boys and girls only.

Workshop

The creative ateliers (at 5pm and 6.30pm) are open to children and parents, regardless of their age, because what matters when exploring creativity is only the desire to discover what lies beyond than usual. Organized by the trainers of the Swiss museum with the collaboration of the Franco Cosimo Panini publishing house, the workshops re-propose some famous Tullet activities. During the first, "The flowery meadow", budding creatives, starting from a dot, will try to paint an expanse of colorful flowers. The second workshop, "The maxi traffic jam", will give life to a city on paper in which artists will have to invent solutions to get around obstacles. To participate write to info@palazzodoglio.com
