"In July 1865, while the island of La Maddalena was preparing to celebrate the patronal feast, the hanged body of Gavina Madau, known as Isis, a prostitute, was found. In the same hours, Enea, the driver of one of the two public carriages, mysteriously disappeared of the island. Once again the melancholy and disenchanted marshal of the Royal Carabinieri station, Bachisio Tanchis, together with the former captain of the English Navy Daniel Roberts, will have to clash with shady village plots and great national intrigues". An exciting plot and many pages to browse and experience as an adventure among the beauties of the La Maddalena archipelago.
It is the new historical novel written by Gianluca Lioni , journalist, adjunct professor at Roma Tre University and member of the Board of Directors of the Barumini Sistema Cultura Foundation.
The mystery, set in the mid-nineteenth century on the island north-east of Sardinia, is entitled " Investigation in the archipelago " (Tre60 publisher) and will be presented in Barumini on Friday 19 January (from 5pm) at the Polo Museale Casa Zapata .
The evening will focus on a meeting-dialogue between Professor Maria Antonietta Mongiu and the author to retrace the history of the novel set in La Maddalena which becomes a "crossroads, like a small Tortuga, with an exotic and colonial flavour, animated by a composite humanity , among soldiers, conspirators, aristocrats, secret agents, sailors and smugglers, in a babel of languages and dialects".
The event is open with free participation.
