In the new episode of “15 minutes with…”, Tuesday 14 June starting at 5 pm , we talk about the importance of blood donation . The appointment with the in-depth talk on health of the hospital-university company of Cagliari in collaboration with the Unione Sarda group is broadcast live on the social networks of the Aou of Cagliari (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube), on the website www.aoucagliari .it, on the Facebook page of L'Unione Sarda and on www.unionesarda.it.

Spectators will be able to ask questions live and on Wednesday on L'Unione Sarda readers will find further information on the “Salute” insert of the newspaper.

Guests of the column, led by Fabrizio Meloni, Head of Communication and External Relations of the Aou, are Professor Pietro Giorgio Calò , director of the Duilio Casula Polispecialistic Surgery, and Doctor Mauro Murgia of the regional structure for coordinating transfusion activities.

Just Tuesday is World Blood Donor Day and, Aou recalls, “awareness and information are key elements: voluntary donation is a simple gesture that really makes a difference. Just think that it takes just ten minutes to donate and save lives ”.

For this reason, from Monday 13 June the Aou of Cagliari launches the campaign " You can donate blood ", which will go to all the channels of the University Hospital of Cagliari.

In 2021 Sardinia was among the three most generous Italian regions with 5.3 donors per thousand inhabitants. The island has an average annual requirement of 106 thousand bags (also necessary for the approximately one thousand thalassemia sufferers who require periodic transfusions) but very often enters a blood emergency especially during the summer .

The talk "15 minutes with ..." is edited by Aou Cagliari News, the newspaper of the university hospital. Agile and simple format, it provides 15 minutes of question and answer with the specialists and the possibility for the public to ask questions live.
