There is talk of respiratory diseases in the new episode of "15 minutes with ..." the in-depth talk on the health of the Cagliari university hospital in collaboration with the Unione Sarda group, which will be broadcast live on Tuesday 1 March at 5 pm on the social networks of the Aou of Cagliari (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube), on the website www.aoucagliari.it, on the Facebook page of the Unione Sarda and on www.unionesarda.it. The guest of the column, conducted by the journalist Fabrizio Meloni, Head of Communications and External Relations of the Aou, will be Professor Stefania Redolfi, pulmonologist at the Duilio Casula Polyclinic.
Breath diseases are many and of different nature. During the live we will talk about obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that affects about 1 billion people worldwide. In Italy there are about 7 million subjects suffering from at least 5 apneas per hour of sleep, between the ages of 30 and 69, 4 million with more than 15 apneas per hour of sleep, while in pediatric age the incidence is 5%.
During the transmission we will talk about post-Covid dyspnea but also about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which in Italy affects about 2,600,000 people: among these smokers are most at risk, in fact, 20 - 40% develop the disease in a full-blown manner .
Finally, there is space for acute respiratory failure, a disease with an incidence of about 77 - 88 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with higher values in middle-aged people and very high in the elderly.
