So much tension for nothing: the electoral commission on the Assemini vote has established that Mario Puddu's challenger for the office of mayor in the June 11 and 12 run-off will be Diego Corrias.

After the very tight counting, the candidate from the progressive camp had been credited with 3,211 preferences, nine more than those of the center-right candidate Niside Muscas, stuck at 3,202. But there were 21 contested ballots.

Thus the intervention of a magistrate was necessary to decree the official result of the first round: the verdict, after a meeting that began at 4 pm, confirmed the count made the night the polls closed.

Barring appeals to the TAR, the contenders for the seat of mayor are the (so far) most voted, former mayor with five stars Mario Puddu, now at the head of a centrist coalition made up of UDC, Riformatori and Sardegna 20Venti, and Diego Corrias, brought from the lists Pd, M5s, Civic and socialists.
