The two volumes that collect Giorgio Asproni's "Parliamentary Speeches" are presented today, Thursday 20 June, in Cagliari. The meeting takes place in the conference room of the Regional Library in viale Trieste 137 starting at 6pm.

At the presentation of the work, edited by Guido Melis (formerly professor of History of political institutions at the University of Rome "La Sapienza") and published by the Chamber of Deputies, in addition to the curator, the historian Marco Pignotti (professor of History of Risorgimento of the University of Cagliari), and Fulvio Conti (professor of Contemporary History at the University of Florence).

The "Parliamentary Speeches" constitute an important tool for deepening the studies and knowledge of the political activity of Giorgio Asproni, an active protagonist of the crucial phases of the Risorgimento, integrating with the fundamental edition of the seven volumes of the "Diary", edited by Tito Orrù and Carlino Sole, and with the other articles that the Bittese deputy publishes in the main newspapers of the republican and democratic areas. From the parliamentary speeches emerges the complexity of Asproni's political interests who, in his five legislatures in the subalpine parliament and in the four in the Chamber of the Kingdom of Italy, fights on the front of the parliamentary left with attention constantly paid to economic, social and infrastructure of Sardinia, as well as representing one of the staunchest opponents of Camillo Cavour's politics.

The meeting was organized by the Giorgio Asproni Foundation, chaired by Idimo Corte.
