“Bacchus, tobacco and Venus. The double meaning in profane music of the 16th century” is the new initiative that intends to tell the paintings, sculptures and collections of the Pinacoteca di Sassari , through new artistic forms, in a union between music and entertainment. The appointment is for Saturday at 6 pm.

The event, organized by the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Sardinia and the National Art Gallery of Sassari, in collaboration with the Gioacchino Rossini Musical Association and the Confraternity of Moscato di Sorso-Sennori, offers a concert, in the suggestive 'Hall of Pillars' of the Museum , full of charm for its architecture, entitled:

The performance, curated by the Corale Rossini of Sassari, will develop in a mix of music and poetry , which will see as protagonists, with the narrative voice of Maria Antonietta Azzu , the musicians and the choir directed by Clara Antonicello . A musical journey declined towards the most famous pages of authors such as Orlando di Lasso, Pierre Passereau, Josquin Des Prez, John Dowland, Juan del Encina. A proposal entirely dedicated to the profane, in an alternation of madrigals, villancicos, chansons and songs.

The texts, rich in double meanings and allusions, will allow the authors to surprise and entertain the general public through the treatment of topics related to vices, the tavern and love, both in the most refined forms and in the most carnal and risqué ones.

To conclude the evening, a toast will be offered by the Confraternity of Moscato di Sorso-Sennori.
