When art can transform pain into beauty, when it becomes a tool for overcoming diversity and barriers, bringing people and worlds together, it takes on a social relevance that makes it unique and almost magical.

This is what is happening in the project that in recent months has united the Cagliari Academy of Art and the Mad2Factory Aps association, which organizes "La Grande Jatte – Modern Times," the event now in its 15th edition, which will be held on May 16th and 17th in the Parco della Musica in Cagliari.

A cultural event dedicated to Victorian and steampunk aesthetics that pays "particular attention to contemporary artistic languages and themes of social inclusion." And it is precisely from this union that the collaboration with the Academy and the "Steampunk and Inclusivity" project was born.

The initiative, the organizers explain, is based on a simple yet central idea: disability is not a deficiency, but a different experience of the body and the world. Through steampunk aesthetics and personalized artistic design, prosthetics become narrative elements, tools of self-expression, and symbols of strength and uniqueness. Not something to hide, but to be shared.

The idea began two years ago and involved several artists and organizations who customized prosthetics that were then worn by disabled people , following a process of discussion and exchange that combines art, aesthetics, function, and personal life. This process was undertaken in recent weeks by thirteen students from the Cagliari Academy of Art, who created drawings on numerous prosthetic limbs. Thus, butterflies, buildings, planets, faces, and smiles appeared on the molded plastic limbs.

Prosthetics tell stories, open windows onto new worlds, and transcend the confines of reality and pain. The works of students from the Cagliari Academy of Art, exhibited at a booth during the event, will provide a new perspective on disability and simultaneously demonstrate how art, in all its forms, can become a tool for connection and inclusion.
