Labor Councilor Desirè Manca "traveled business class, thus increasing his travel expenses from approximately €900 to €3,000, for his institutional mission to Argentina. Given the way he cried out in the last council session, I would have expected a more careful and moderate institutional profile." The accusation comes from regional councilor Alessandro Sorgia, who also announced an access to documents to determine the cost of the mission. The Todde government representative responded immediately: "I have nothing to hide," Manca replied, "my trip was authorized and carried out in full compliance with the law and regional procedures."

The case arose during the trip to South America for the ninth congress of Sardinian circles in La Plata, Argentina, which took place at the end of November.

Sorgia's accusation

Sorgia expresses doubts: "It would be interesting to know if the rumors are true, and in particular how many of her staff members she accompanied, how much her trip cost the Sardinians, and what results she achieved," he states. Councilor Manca, he reconstructs, "had sparked much controversy during the previous term, denouncing inappropriate political actions in speeches in the Chamber and on social media. Now, however, it seems she treated herself well by traveling Business Class, and if so, thus increasing her travel expenses from approximately €900 to €3,000."
Given how he has "screamed" in the past, the opposition figure continues, "I would have expected a more careful and moderate institutional profile: the Five Star Movement entered the institutions to open them like a can of tuna, but perhaps the intent was to eat it," adds Sorgia.

If the Region has not yet made public the details of the trip, "and therefore it is not possible to know the exact costs and results obtained, I will request access to the documents to let the Sardinians know how the councilor spends their money."

Manca's reply

"I have nothing to hide. My official trip to Argentina was authorized and conducted in full compliance with regional law and procedures. Every expense is tracked, accounted for, and verifiable, as required for any official mission," Manca promptly responds. As president of the Emigration Council, "I couldn't help but participate in important institutional events such as the Sardinian Clubs Congress held in La Plata, where the new Board of Directors was elected. Councilor Sorgia," the councilor adds, "should study more before writing: he even forgot about previous official missions, including the one to Argentina, which included councilors from his political party."

Manca says, "It's extremely serious that people continue to sling mud at me, on every topic, no matter what I do. But this shows that my detractors are truly lacking in substance. This isn't opposition; it's fueling unfounded suspicions just to create a media sensation, which is of a very low level."

If Sorgia wants to access the documents , "let him do so: he won't find any scandals, just proper documents and serious institutional work. I don't need to hide behind slogans or controversy."
