Are bananas fattening?
That bananas make you fat is one of the many myths: nutritional values in hand, they are in fact fruits rich in beneficial properties suitable for any diet and especially for sportsmen. The banana, it can be said without fear of contradiction, is a real panacea for health: it keeps our intestines healthy, fights fatigue, strengthens the muscles and, last but not least, helps to control blood pressure.
It also plays a significant role in low-calorie diets thanks to that feeling of satiety that tends to limit overeating. Among other things, bananas are rich in tryptophan, an essential amino acid for the human body which is very important in the synthesis of proteins and some biological substances, such as for example serotonin, also known as the "hormone of good mood".
Bananas also deserve a special mention as a good source of prebiotics. In detail, both pectin and resistant starch contained in these fruits, not being affected by digestive processes, arrive directly in the large intestine where they become food for the good bacteria contained therein (intestinal microbiota). There is also good news for the numerous anti-aging fans: bananas have excellent moisturizing properties and are rich in vitamins, characteristics that make them excellent for all skin types.
