A loan of 800 thousand euros, from the regional secretariat of the Ministry of Culture, to enhance the area of Tuvixeddu in Cagliari, the largest Punic-Roman necropolis in the Mediterranean.
This is what was announced this morning in a meeting held right in front of the well-known "Tomb of the ears and fishes".
Among the planned interventions the excavation, restoration and maintenance of the necropolis for the restoration, where possible, of the original funerary landscape. It is also planned to create a visit path between the Roman tomb of Rubellius, probably of a Roman aristocrat, and the tomb of the ears of fish itself, the closest to the road.
A protective entrance compass will also be built, including climatic ones: the multimedia communication system will be housed here.
In the area in front, for years a landfill and then disputed site of a construction site for the construction of a building, a small square should be born that could become a sort of gateway to the Punic-Roman necropolis.
"We would like it to become a transit area - said Elena Romoli for the superintendent - a crossing area that allows you to really enjoy these finds".
