Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Chinese GP, driving for Mercedes . He is the first Italian to win a World Championship race since Giancarlo Fisichella , who won the Malaysian GP on March 19, 2006.

The Bolognese, who is just 19 and a half years old and yesterday became the youngest polesitter in Formula 1 history, crossed the finish line ahead of teammate George Russell, followed by Hamilton and Leclerc.

For the Briton, it's his first podium in a long race since arriving in Maranello in 2025. "Good job, keep it up, guys," Hamilton said on team radio. Also scoring points were Oliver Bearman (Haas), Pierre Gasly (Alpine F1 Team), Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls), Isack Hadjar (Red Bull), Carlos Sainz (Williams), and Franco Colapinto (Alpine).

"I can't speak, I'm about to cry. Thank you so much to my team who helped me make this dream come true . I'm really happy. Yesterday I said I wanted to bring Italy back to the top, and I did it." This was a tearful Kimi Antonelli, commenting on his GP triumph. "At the start, I gave the Ferraris too much space, but then I recovered and managed to finish the race, even though I almost had a heart attack with that blockage at the end," added Antonelli, who hadn't been born when Fisichella won the last GP won by an Italian.
