Over thirty performances in English, the awards ceremony at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a trip to New York in between: and the long journey of " Tale of a Potato " will also land in Cagliari , on stage from 22 to 27 September at La Saletta in via del Sole 9 in Cagliari , in the Quartiere del Sole. Ten performances are scheduled for the play directed by Angelo Trofa and performed by Valentina Fadda , in a production by Batisfera at its national premiere .

Six particularly intense days are coming, punctuated by numerous performances, designed to create an intimate and intimate atmosphere on each occasion, with just thirty spectators at a time . After the performances on Tuesday the 22nd and Wednesday the 23rd , both scheduled for 7:30 pm , the curtains for "Tale of a Potato" will rise for two consecutive evenings on each of the following days , first at 8 pm and then at 9 pm .

A busy schedule for the work's debut in the Italian circuit , which came at the culmination of a singular journey: director Trofa had in fact initially written "Tale of a Potato" in Italian, reworking it in Anglo-Saxon version only later, with Chiara De Giorgio and Daniela Innocenti : and it was precisely in English that the work debuted, reaching twenty-three performances in August 2025 at the Zoo Playground , within the context of the Edinburgh festival that recognized the play among the award-winning shows. Strengthened by the acclaim of British critics, the Batisfera troupe then landed "Tale of a Potato" also in the United States in 2026, to participate in the Italian theatre festival " InScena! " in New York .

The show centers on a potato named "Protagonist," whose existence, however, traverses distinctly human experiences , such as birth, family, love, relationships, justice, betrayal, death, and, most intriguing of all, the relationship between individual choice and everything that happens outside our control. Around "Protagonist" move vegetables and everyday objects, themselves characters in a micro-universe crafted from wood and iron. In its thirty-minute running time , "Tale of a Potato" follows the path of object theater, transforming vegetables with eyes and sharp knives into a delicate and ironic reflection on life and the decisions that change its course.

An apparent simplicity that hides an unexpected and brilliant tenderness , widely noted by the international press and critics. And at the Cagliari debut, the first two evenings will also continue with parallel discussions: on Tuesday , Elio Turno Arthemalle will lead the audience in a talk dedicated to the history of the potato , from its American origins to its conquest of the Old Continent, with a tasting offered by Coccodì at the end. On Wednesday , Fabio Mulas will coordinate a discussion between the audience and Fadda, Trofa, and Leonardo Tomasi , the latter assistant director, in a discussion of the themes and interpretations of the work.

With voiceover by Michela Atzeni , sets and costumes by Filippo Grandulli , and music by Luca Spanu , the lighting design is by Luca Carta , while the audio recordings are by Quarantacinque Audiolibri e Doppiaggio , in a graphic design developed by Daniele Coppi and with the teaser created by Tomasi himself. The island trip also received the support of the Region and the Fondazione di Sardegna , with reservations recommended for each performance.
