At the congress two weeks ago Anci Sardegna came out split in two. The outgoing president Emiliano Deiana (Pd) did not have the upper hand, with 146 preferences, while the mayor of Sanluri, Alberto Urpi (Sardinia 20Venti), obtained 139 votes. Due to 32 blank ballots, no one has reached the quorum and the vote is to be repeated, probably with the same two candidates.
In short, the world of mayors is divided. Yet, says Urpi today, "for the outgoing board it is as if these elections had never taken place, we had agreed to talk and see each other and clearly a level playing field was looming, and instead we are witnessing a frenzied race for public exit , even with a political programmatic manifesto in the name of Anci ”.
The mayor of Sanluri refers to the note with which Deiana two days ago indicated a series of measures, including refreshments, to cope with the uncomfortable situation that reigns in Sardinian communities and between production categories due to the increase the costs of energy, fuel and, in general, raw materials. “But who is he speaking on behalf of if he has not been confirmed to the presidency? - Urpi objects - moreover, his is a cry for unbridled welfare, very little for a program that, in the name of all the mayors, looks to the next regional elections ”. Now, he continues, "it would be good for the current board, which did not receive an absolute majority of consensus in the last elections, to discuss the issues with the other forces that participated in the internal confrontation of the association, and to convene an assembly to define the date and methods of the next elections ". Therefore, “I understand that the role in the Anci board of directors represents a necessity for some, but this need can only be satisfied in one way: by going to the vote and obtaining legitimacy from the majority of mayors, whose wishes must be fully respected. On these issues, we hope that a serious and collaborative discussion will be activated immediately ".
