Ambra Angiolini arrives in Cagliari in “Oliva Denaro”, an intense monologue based on the novel of the same name by Viola Ardone and inspired by the story of Franca Viola: a poignant and poetic show, along the lines of the book by the famous Neapolitan writer, with sets and costumes by Guido Fiorato, lighting design by Marco Filibeck, music by Paolo Silvestri and direction by Giorgio Gallione, who also signs the dramaturgy together with the protagonist, for a production by GoldenArt and Agidi.
After the great success at the Teatro Comunale in Sassari, the play, one of the most anticipated events of the Grande Prosa season organized by CeDAC / Circuito Multidisciplinare dello Spettacolo dal Vivo chaired by Antonio Cabiddu and directed by Valeria Ciabattoni, will be on stage at the Teatro Massimo, in a regional premiere, from tonight, Wednesday 5 March, until Sunday 9th starting at 8.30 pm on weekdays, while on Saturday and Sunday the curtain will rise respectively at 7.30 pm and 7 pm and, given the many requests, on Friday 7th an extraordinary afternoon at 4.30 pm.
Between news and invention, the story of a modern heroine who breaks the rules and ignores conventions, triggering a cultural and social revolution: from the book to the stage, a real, dramatic and painful episode is transfigured, a legacy of an archaic patriarchal civilization founded on a primitive and bloodthirsty sense of honor, where, as the protagonist's mother recalls, "the female is a jug, whoever breaks it takes it", in full compliance with the law, also incorporated into the Rocco Code in 1930, which in article 544 established the possibility of reparatory marriages.
“Oliva Denaro” retraces from the point of view of the adolescent, whose immature beauty fascinates a rich and arrogant young man, unable to accept rejection, some crucial moments of her existence, the adventurous morning excursions with her father, a wise and enlightened man with solid peasant roots and the severe education imparted by her mother, careful to defend the reputation of her daughters by keeping them safe from gossip and insinuations as well as from weaknesses and inclinations, but above all the precious teachings of an unconventional teacher who invites her students to think with their own heads and makes them develop a passion for study and reading.
Oliva is a very young woman, in some ways little more than a child, even if she is aware of cruelty and malice, forced against her will to defend herself from the advances of a suitor who is too bold and unscrupulous, unwelcome to her family and, although capable of disturbing them, not even to her, but determined to obtain at all costs what she desires, intimately convinced that he is offering his "beloved" an enviable future.
Viola Ardone invents a delicate figure, symbol of femininity in the prime of life, a tireless dreamer who portrays movie stars and fantasizes about complicated plots, prefers activities more suitable for boys according to the common mentality and would like to postpone as long as possible the end of the age of games and innocence, to escape the rigid rules imposed on girls for which it is obligatory to display modesty and reserve.
On stage the superb Ambra Angiolini, Nastro d'Argento and David di Donatello for best supporting actress for “Saturno contro” by Ferzan Özpetek and Nastro d'Argento for the series “Le fate ignoranti”.
The iconic actress, much loved by the public and extremely talented since she was a teenager, who ranges with exceptional naturalness from theatre to cinema to TV, always arousing great emotions and unanimous consensus, tells the story of many women through this girl, who becomes a heroine thanks to the value of the first real “no”.
She is rebellious and contrary but with respect and kindness.
His rebellion comes from his desire for knowledge, from his curiosity.
Oliva is a heroine who also has the superpower of knowing how to listen to others: when she doesn't know she listens, when she doesn't understand she asks.
