Tragic epilogue in Spain for the search for Alvaro Prieto, the 18-year-old footballer who plays in the youth team of Cordoba FC and whose traces were lost last Thursday near the Santa Justa railway station in Seville.
The lifeless body of the promising young woman was found this morning on live TV between two train carriages, in the vicinity of the same season.
Prieto had spent the evening in the company of friends, the security cameras showed him at the station on Thursday morning. He intended to return from Seville to his home in Cordoba
Having missed the train for which he had a valid ticket, he tried to get on a second train, from which however he was made to get off because he did not have the corresponding ticket. It is unclear what happened next - the police are investigating. According to the authorities, the train among which the boy's body was found has been stopped for repairs in a station workshop since last August.
"Unfortunately, news that we would never have wanted to give is confirmed", declared the CEO of Córdoba Fc (a team playing in the Spanish Serie C), Antonio Fernández Monterrubio, "we express our maximum support for the family". The cause of death is currently unknown, an autopsy is pending.
The television crew of the "Mananeros" program on the first channel of RTVE, Spanish public television, showed very crude images, the boy's legs in the middle of two carriages, without first notifying the police or the young man's family. In fact, the body was found live on television by the program that was covering the missing footballer.
There were many criticisms and protests against the public service, so much so that the presenter Jaime Cantizano had to apologise: «At that moment, given the speed and what was being told, we broadcast live images that should never have been broadcast . The apologies are addressed first and foremost to the family of the deceased. The images were removed from the program's digital broadcast so they can never be seen again. Finally, we immediately placed in the hands of the Judicial Police all the audiovisual material that could help in the investigations of the case."
