It's official: Alessio Rosa, a 51-year-old resident of Assemini with ALS who is currently in Surat Thani, a town in southern Thailand, will return to Italy. Rosa will arrive at Bangkok Airport by train and then fly directly to the Italian capital. "For now, we've managed to arrange his return to Rome," said Salvatore Deidda, MP and Chairman of the Transport Committee. Deidda has taken Rosa's cause to heart, as he is unable to return home under his own power. "The ITA Airways plane, whose staff has made itself available to assist the disabled man, is expected to land at Fiumicino Airport on July 23."
And what about the destination, Sardinia? Paolo Dionisi, Italian ambassador to Bangkok, and Andrea Conti, head of the consular section, are working on the final details: "There are still some logistical details missing in organizing the return trip to Cagliari."
