From June 8th to 14th, Alghero Wine Week returns, transforming Alghero into the island's wine capital for a week, showcasing a blend of experiential tourism, local culture, and the promotion of local produce.
Now in its third edition, the event is organized by the Sassari Chamber of Commerce and Promocamera together with the Municipality of Alghero, the Alghero Foundation, the Alghero DOC Wine Consortium, and the Alghero-Olmedo Rural District.
The goal is to consolidate the role of wine as a tool for enhancing the local area and a tourist attraction capable of generating benefits for accommodation facilities, restaurants, and commerce.
The program kicks off on Monday with an opening evening in the historic center. From Tuesday to Thursday, the Wine Bus service will take visitors on wine tours of local wineries, taking them on a discovery tour of the Alghero DOC Consortium's wineries.
The calendar includes masterclasses dedicated to local wines and "Cantine in Musica" events, with tastings, guided tours, typical products, and shows among the vineyards of Santa Maria La Palma, Podere Guardia Grande, and Sella & Mosca.
The highlight of the event will be this weekend, when the bastions, squares, and views of the historic center will transform into a grand tasting trail. "Walking Wine" returns on Friday and Saturday, with stands and tastings bringing together Sardinia's leading wine consortia in Alghero: from Vermentino di Gallura to Malvasia di Bosa, including Cannonau, Vermentino di Sardegna, and the productions of Coros and Romangia.
Live music, shows, and entertainment will accompany the tastings along the walls of the Catalan city. The closing event is scheduled for Sunday in Fertilia, where wine will intertwine with the history and identity of the village as part of the celebrations for its 90th anniversary.
