The adventure of the Cagliari Beach Soccer women in the World Winners Cup, the Club World Cup, which concluded today at the Beach Arena in Alghero, ended in fourth place. The rossoblu lost on penalties in the final for the third step of the podium against the Polish Red Devils Ladies Chojnice, who have in their roster many athletes who won the European Championship last week with the national team.
The team representing the Pomeranian Voivodeship took the lead at the start of the second third with Szpera, but in the 9th minute the red and blues found the equalizer with Illiano, good at capitalizing in the best way a triangulation with Vecchione. The chance to win comes at the feet of Bednarska, who wastes a penalty kick sending it wide.
It goes to penalties, here's the sequence: Sudyk goal, Illiano out; Kostiuk saved, Privitera goal; Siowy saved, Vecchione saved; Suskiewicz goal, Dominguez goal; Gozdek goal, Bednarska high.
"We played a beautiful final for third place. We managed to manage it well in the defensive phase, scaling down their game that always starts from the goalkeeper who is good with his feet", explains the rossoblu coach Manuel Perra. "Maybe we deserved to score a few more goals, but that's okay. I'm proud of the World Cup played by the girls. We'll try again next year", concludes the coach from Cagliari.
The women's world title goes to Brazilian team Sao Pedro, who beat Spanish team Higicontrol Melilla on penalties after a 3-3 draw on the pitch.
The men's trophy went to Falfala, who beat Rosh Haayin 4-3 in an all-Israeli derby. Bronze went to the Chinese team Zhejiang NingboTms, who beat Ukrainians Vybor 4-3. The best Italian team was Napoli, fifth after beating Germans Real Munster 4-3. Bologna beat Sicilians Naxos 5-1 in the play-off for 19th and 20th place.
