Alghero airport downsized, there are no direct flights to European destinations . In the list of destinations for the winter season, which ends on 30 March 2024, we find only Italian airports: continuous flights to Linate and Fiumicino, and then the other Milanese airports (Malpensa and Orio al Serio), Bologna, Naples and Pisa .

In addition to Aeroitalia, the company that manages the continuity service, only Ryanair flies to and from the airport in the north west of the island.

«Tourist destination without access gates, territory cut off from the rest of Europe . This is how north-west Sardinia looks like in the winter months", reports M5s regional councilor Desirè Manca . «Even the few flights to Spain and France were wiped out. From the Riviera del Corallo airport today it is impossible to travel to a European destination with a direct flight, and therefore without having to pay unaffordable prices and without having to make an obligatory stopover of several hours".

Even the continuous tickets for residents "leave something to be desired, with only three flights a day" , highlights Manca, who speaks of a "grey" winter for the northern part of the island. An " intolerable isolation ", urges the five-star party, which then attacks the Tourism department: " It talks about deseasonalisation, but in reality even basic connections with the main European capitals are missing ".
