«Swimming pools, the Town Hall in Via Columbano and the former Cotton Mill, three inherited works completely at a standstill, with abandoned construction sites and closed structures. The clearest example of the inefficiency of those who preceded us ."

The mayor of Alghero Mario Conoci goes on the attack in response to the opposition's accusations regarding the many construction sites at a standstill.

"Trying to attack the Administration in office starting from the disasters committed during one's mandate is forgetful", declares the mayor. « We returned the outdoor pool to the city three years ago despite the terrible conditions in which it was left in 2019 . This year it will even host a pre-Olympic water polo tournament with the strongest national teams in the world." On the covered pool, however, Conoci says that 260 thousand euros have been invested in energy efficiency , "without which the structure could not be managed given the enormous energy costs".

We will then continue with the internal coverings and the connection with the changing rooms , finally further resources will be needed to redevelop the external areas.

As for the Town Hall in via Columbano, «we found a building completely abandoned to itself, in which it was literally raining inside , a real shame. Just mentioning it should have made you shudder. We thus started the project, faced a dispute and started the works seriously. With the complete renovation of the roofs the building is safe and now we proceed with the interiors."

Finally, the former cotton mill «was a completely degraded area, stuffed with asbestos and left at the mercy of waste of all kinds . We started the work - continues Conoci - but unfortunately the company had economic problems due to various factors, it could not cope and left the work. Today we are in the restart phase. But in the meantime the area has been completely reclaimed, and the work carried out has nevertheless made this important part of the city safe."
