Alghero comedy hits the theatre with innovation and quality

For the first time, the Alghero comedy is brought to the stage with a real direction, signed by an established theatre director, Chiara Murru.

Lo Viut, the text brought to the stage by the Cabirol Cultural Association and the Nova Companya del Reganal, was a success beyond all expectations last weekend.

The musical part, entrusted to the great talent of Raimondo Dore, also contributed to giving the show an unusual level of quality.

Three sold out evenings, for a show that has certainly left its mark, also for the theatrical text by Pino Piras, always outside the schemes of classic comedy, inspired by sarcasm and irony with which he underlines the vices and virtues of society. An enthusiastic audience, standing ovations, and many young people in the theater, and this is the most interesting novelty, demonstrating that the Catalan language of Alghero can be a vehicle for spreading interesting content for the new generations. Also thanks to the great passion of the members of the Nova Companya del Reganal, the amateur theater association that collaborates with the Cabirol Association in spreading the works of Pino Piras.

A success that rewards the efforts and commitment put into research and the application of an innovative project capable of elevating Alghero comedy, just as Alghero song has been innovated since 2007 with Nostra Cançò and for five years with the Pino Piras Award.

The Comedy was sponsored by the Municipality of Alghero, by the Alghero Foundation, with the support of the delegation of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Now the Association is working on the project of the Festival of the Songwriter of Minority Languages, also in this case proposing a current project and in step with the times.
