Alghero blood but Irish spirit. Seven years after their last live performance, the band Bordell presents a new album entitled " Thank Grog We Are Atheists."

The Bordell (Black Old Rum Delively Lads) project was born at the end of the last millennium solely as a study and exploration of the music that has always fascinated its members: that of Celtic and Irish origin. All the material recovered from libraries and from travels in the United Kingdom was then carefully sifted and selected to compose a uniform repertoire that could be played live in venues by a small band, in typical Irish pub style.

In September 2006, Bordell made their first live appearance. From then until 2019, they played continuously in clubs and squares across Sardinia with minor changes in their lineup. Their stage show consists almost exclusively of traditional songs, with a particular focus on shanties, pub songs, and Irish drinking songs. The simplicity of the melodic lines, combined with the full lyrics provided at the beginning of the evening, always allow for a high level of audience engagement, with the audience vocally supporting the band during the choruses.

The current lineup is made up of a core group that has been working together since 1991, around which dozens of musicians have rotated over the years: Pietro Fiori : lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Raffaele Fanciulli : acoustic bass, stompbox and backing vocals; Andrea Fanciulli : acoustic guitar, Irish bouzouki and backing vocals; Peppino Anfossi : violin.
Over the years, the live line-up has included Emanuele Martinez (violin), Anna Marsal Mestres (flute), Gianni Garrucciu (guitar and lead vocals), Barbara Lauricella (vocals), Carlo Sezzi (drums), Michele Garofalo (horn) and Marco Colledanchise (drums).

The album's tracks were recorded in a mobile studio over the course of years and thanks to the loving contribution of Catalan flautist Anna Marsal Mestres, drummer Stefano Polese, accordionists Gianfranco Foddai and Marco Valentino (who also played the piano parts), Gianni Garrucciu (vocals and lead guitar) and another ten friends who "simulated" the choirs and background noises of a pub.
