The Lieutenant Pilot Instructor Antonio Cano, from Sassari, and the student pilot Giuseppe Laura, from Sanremo, were remembered today with a plaque dedicated to them in Vessus, on the Villanova road.

The two airmen lost their lives on 23 October 1956 in that area, aboard the Macchi 414 which crashed to the ground.

Today the blessing ceremony of the plaque, commissioned by the Arma Aeronautica Aviators of Italy, Section "Salvatore Pulina", of Alghero.

Present were the deputy mayor Giovanna Caria and the relatives of second lieutenant Cano, his wife Adriana and their son, relatives and friends.

Giovanna Caria wanted to remember the two young people who lost their lives in a tragedy that affected the entire city of Alghero.
