«I am proud to be the first female president of the Region in Sardinia» is the phrase that Alessandra Todde said on the night of the long vote and it is the one she repeated several times yesterday in her statements.

For the final data, 19 sections out of 1,844 are still missing: but Todde remains ahead of Paolo Truzzu by 2,615 votes, 45.4% against a net 45. For Renato Soru and Lucia Chessa, 8.6 and 1% respectively are confirmed.

During the press conference in Cagliari, the first after her confirmation, the new president reiterated: «After 75 years of autonomy we have managed to break this glass ceiling». Thanks went to all his staff but the priority now, he said, is to get to work on his program.

«First of all, the first thing to do is to get involved in the organization of the Region, also given the terrifying example we have given, of an administration that cannot even manage its own elections», he underlined.

And on the topic of departments, Todde repeated what he had already anticipated during the electoral campaign: «We have an old law from 1977 which locks the system into 12 silo departments, with watertight compartments, it must be changed even before the birth of the council». Also on his list are healthcare, with the local healthcare network to operate, and energy. In particular, the urgency of "a moratorium that supports the energy transition and allows us to work on the map of areas suitable for renewables".

«I am happy to have had a team and a coalition that worked with determination, like mine, as a woman from Nuoro», she confirmed. And it matters little if the two-mandate rule, imposed by the M5S, will prevent her from running for office again in five years. «Fortunately I am not in the field of politics, for me the important thing is that the project goes ahead, no matter with whom. The coalition will certainly remain."
