New developments in the case of Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography killed on the set of the film "Rust" by a gunshot fired by Alec Baldwin , during the filming of a scene with a weapon that should have been fake, but which in reality was true and lethal.

According to US media reports, Hutchins' family sued the actor and the film's producers accusing them of manslaughter.

The "reckless conduct and savings on production costs" by Baldwin and the other producers of the film - explained the family's lawyer, Brian Panish - led to Halyna's death.

The papers to investigate the case were filed with the court of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the incident on the set of the western film took place on October 21st.

Baldwin, distraught, said the shot went off without him pulling the trigger, but lawyers say he instead refused to undergo training for the type of weapon he was handling.
