No to the merger of the Sardinian airports and the "theatres": in a question to the President of the Region Alessandra Todde, the councilor Alessandro Sorgia of the Misto Group lashes out against the privatization of the island's airport system.
«On the privatization of airports and the creation of a single industrial hub for airport management in Sardinia – says councilor Sorgia – we are witnessing a little theater with President Todde as the protagonist. After months of electoral campaign in which Alessandra Todde strongly argued against the privatization of the island's airports; after the first declarations, following her inauguration, with which the President reiterated her opposition to the merger and privatization project; after all this, the President, without starting any discussion with the Regional Council, writes to the Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari and Oristano, majority shareholder of the Cagliari airport, to communicate the Sardinia Region's willingness to enter into the share capital of the company to be established unitary management of the Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari airports ".
«It is hardly necessary to remember – he continues – that the Court of Auditors, the TAR, the Civil Court and the board of auditors of So.G.Aer. SpA have already expressed themselves negatively on the procedure implemented for the merger of the airports and the creation of a single private entity. The Court of Auditors, in particular, warned that the privatization of the Cagliari airport, being today a public asset managed by the So.G.Aer company. SpA, must take place through a public procedure and the same must justify the transfer to private individuals ".
«We are faced with – adds Sorgia – a real sell-off of Cagliari airport which over the years has demonstrated how public management can also be orderly, profitable and generate profits . I find it absurd that the President did not feel the need to report to the House before taking such an important decision. The management, including public management, of Sardinian airports represents a fundamental asset for the island to be defended and supported . Precisely for this reason – concludes Sorgia – I have decided to submit a question addressed to President Alessandra Todde to find out if she intends to report to the chamber the strategies and wishes regarding the privatization of the Sardinian airport system; whether it intends to withdraw the appeals promoted by the Sardinia Region and currently pending; whether he is aware of the opinion of the Court of Auditors regarding the privatization project; whether it is true that the Sardinia Region is preparing to enter the share capital of the possible future sole airport management company in Sardinia and with what shares and powers with respect to the shareholders' meeting".
