The envelopes with the offers relating to the tender for the assignment of air territorial continuity are opened today at 3 pm , the fourth public tender in just over a year. The commission will then proceed to examine the proposals.

There could be three companies involved: Ita, Volotea and AeroItalia . The first two had accepted the continuity management without economic compensation until May 2023, then announced an early stop to the service due - officially - to the expensive fuel. The third, a company born last summer, aims at connections from Olbia airport.

But the biggest concern remains that relating to the times in which the tender will come to a conclusion and the agreement with the companies will be signed . Tickets cannot be put on sale until then.

In fact, it is currently impossible to book or buy a flight on the six main routes that connect Sardinia to the two main Italian airports. And while bids will be reviewed starting today and winners could be identified within days, tickets are unlikely to go on sale before February.

However, the Region will have to take into account a date imposed by EU rules: that of January 31, the last day by which airlines will be able to show up to agree to fly on Sardinian routes without economic compensation, as Ita and Volotea have done since last spring.
