Last hours to save Air Italy's 1,322 employees (including 600 Sardinians).

The Sardinia Region has sent a final appeal to the Draghi government to obtain the signature of the extension for the redundancy fund for workers from the ownership of the airline.

The deadline is 31 December and, in the absence of an agreement, the next day the employees will receive the dismissal letters, which have remained on stand-by until now.

"I was silent only on Christmas day - declared the Councilor for Labor and Vice President of the Giunta Alessandra Zedda -, yesterday I wrote again to the Minister of Labor Andrea Orlando: our appeal and that of the Lombardy Region was unanimous, we pleaded with the government to make a proposal to Air Italy to keep the cig. We know that the owners have no desire to grant it ".

Although the hopes of reopening the dispute are reduced to a flicker, "we need to be proactive and only the national government can do it", he added.

A FUND FOR RE -EMPLOYMENT - Meanwhile, 4.5 million euros are ready (3.8 million for the European Globalization Adjustment Fund, 683,000 euros for the Region) to be used to reintegrate the company's employees into the world of work.

This is a complementary fund to the national shock absorber, whatever it is, layoffs if by December 31st the government manages to snatch the result from the airline, or Naspi.

For employees based in Sardinia, the planned interventions are training and retraining for ground staff, contributions for training costs, specialist training vouchers, hiring incentives, bonuses for business creation and bonus for territorial mobility.

"The procedure was very complex - explained Zedda - but I thank the Regional Council who believed in us from the beginning (and which provided for the 15% funding), and Aspal who with us is the creator of this result: we fought because obtaining EU funds is very difficult. We have the possibility of training the 611 Air Italy workers with specific projects ". Now, the commissioner added, "the way is cleared for other disputes".
