After Alitalia is scary: the uncertainties that accompany the take-off of Ita also have repercussions on the Sardinian skies. Tonight everything will be decided and with the opening of the envelopes containing the offers presented by the airlines on the subsidized flights between Rome and Milan and Sardinia, perhaps we will be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

There remains the anxiety for the future of a territorial continuity which, despite having to cover only seven months, from 15 October could revolutionize the habits of the Sardinians. The only certainty is that Alitalia will no longer fly and manage the connections in the airports of Alghero, Cagliari and Olbia and the hubs of Fiumicino and Linate.

The scenery

The call for tenders activated by viale Trento with an emergency procedure authorized by the Ministry of Transport expires today at 1 pm, also with the ok of the Italian representation in the EU, precisely to avoid the risk of interrupting the continuity carried out up to then by the former flag carrier. Today, therefore, it will be known how many offers have been received and which carriers have responded to the invitation launched by the Region to eleven companies operating nationwide, including low cost ones. Ita is expected to have made his proposal.

Also worrying are the rumors, denied by Todde, about a possible postponement of the start of the new company which will take over from Alitalia in just over two weeks.

The process

The public tender was open to all carriers interested in guaranteeing the route between October and May, covering the connections between the three Sardinian airports and Rome and Milan. The "best" offer will be the one that wins the tender. In this transition period, seven months in all, the service will cost 37 million euros to the state coffers, pending the new two-year tender that the Region has yet to prepare.

Reactions

"In the meantime, I hope that the ban will not go deserted and that from 15 October the Sardinians will be able to fly to Rome and Milan with a maximum discounted ticket," says Mayor Paolo Truzzu. Which does not hide the concerns regarding the content of the new announcement. One in particular: "Reduced flights, as the notice states, means that we choose to disregard a tourist season that today, however, has no solution of continuity," he explains.

The Pd group in the Regional Council also has something to say. «In the Transport Committee all the opposition has expressed our objections to the councilor but he has always replied that everything will go smoothly», says Valter Piscedda, «I hope so. We have arrived at this point, walking a tightrope because the calls are not made before the deadline, due to the way in which the matter was handled, both by the councilor and the president and by the majority: they are isolating us, even by sea ".
