Air continuity, Sardinian entrepreneurs: "Extend the emergency call to October 2022"
Appeal to the institutions not to jeopardize the tourist season
The extension of the emergency call until the end of October 2022 and the allocation of the assumed resources for Ct2 to the advantage of Ct1 instead. These are the two fundamental points, closely linked to the new air continuity announcement to and from Sardinia, which will have to cover the facilitated flights from May 2022, to which all the business associations of Sardinia draw the attention of the institutions.

"Given the mandatory timing of six months from the publication of the call for the entry into force of the new territorial continuity service, in fact - they explain - the programming, booking and sale of tickets is precluded in this time frame, thus seriously jeopardizing the entire tourist season 2022, to the benefit of other destinations, with further very serious and unsustainable economic and occupational damage for Sardinia ".
On the opportunity to "move" the resources for CT2 towards CT1, the associations point out that "CT2 for Bologna and Turin, with two flights per week of the new tender project, would induce a dangerous and harmful displacement effect for several airlines that in the summer already cover the routes with an advantageous system for travelers ". Therefore, it is better to invest in Rome and Milan, "fundamental transit hubs, which see a worrying strong contraction in connections precisely in the summer".
Two other points highlighted concern, however, the regional resources to be allocated to the airports of Sardinia, considering that those provided for in the omnibus law are "inadequate compared to the twenty million required, therefore to be increased". These funds, the associations continue, "are absolutely indispensable to rebalance the improper negative effects caused to the airport management of Sardinia, which are experiencing significantly more important public support and incentive interventions intended for airports in other regions and competing destinations".
Last request: "Immediately put in place and in the implementation phase the planning of the tourist season 2022, providing adequate resources and sharing with the table of associations the communication strategies and initiatives to be defined in advance for an effective involvement of the operators of the long and articulated supply chain connected to tourism in Sardinia ".
