"Sardinia is among the most virtuous Regions in Italy for the advancement of the expenditure of the Rural Development Program 2014-2022 , as certified by a recent report by the Agea ministerial agency. The spending targets have been largely exceeded and this good performance goes in the direction of the full use of European funds . We must continue to invest in the simplification and digitization of procedures, with the recruitment of new professionals, laying the foundations for a more efficient and effective management of the next programs and further shortening the delivery times payments for the benefit of Sardinian farmers who in recent years have had to defend themselves from the devastating effects of the pandemic and from the increase in the costs of raw materials and energy ".

Thus the President of the Region, Christian Solinas, comments on the data illustrated in Cagliari during the work of the Supervisory Committee of the PSR Sardinia , the body chaired by the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Gabriella Murgia, who has the task of controlling the progress of the Program and the progress made in achieving the objectives.

After the extension to 2022, the RDP has a financial endowment of one billion and 667 million and for the last two years the additional resources received by Sardinia amount to 437,782,000 euros.

During this term , 33.4 million euros of regional funds were also added . The resources assigned to Sardinia for the last two years have been attributed for about 47% to measures with environmental climate value, for 28% to investment measures for 21% for animal welfare, in addition to 4% for the increase of resources for the Leader strategy. Throughout the entire rural development program, 112 regional calls have been issued and 145 calls are already operational .

"The report presented by the Managing Authority - underlines Murgia - highlighted the good financial progress of the program, given that by 31 December 2021 the financial expenditure objective had already been exceeded by 23%, while in May it was already exceeded by the 5% of the spending target set for December 2022. There remain some critical issues which slow down the interventions and which, even if they do not affect the overall results obtained, do not allow for a rapid disbursement of funds to those directly involved ".
In the Program of the Region, "the interventions in favor of young farmers have a great strategic importance, and consequently an important financial weight: about 90 million in the 2014-2022 RDP (50 million RDP 2014-20 + 39.8 million with the extension 2021-22) were dedicated to the calls for the first settlement and to the 'Youth Package', allowing to pay a premium, to date, to 1,347 young farmers, to which over 400 companies interested in the scrolling of the existing ranking will be added and an additional 800 young people who will take office thanks to the resources of the 2021-2022 transition and whose call for applications closed on 6 June with over 1,100 applications submitted ", concludes the commissioner Murgia.
