Two Sardinian players will be part of the Italy squad that faces Iceland tomorrow in Tortona (8:30 PM) in a sold-out arena. Coach Luca Banchi's 12-man squad for the 2027 World Cup qualifying match includes Dinamo's Luca Vincini, making his debut, and Cagliari's Sasha Grant, currently playing for Cremona.

The third Sardinian is Gigi Datome, coordinator of the Men's National Teams Sector: "There are many athletes here who have excelled in recent years with the Youth National Teams, but we must be ready immediately because the match against Iceland is already very important: we have matches ahead of us that will be difficult but crucial if we want to achieve our goal of qualifying for the 2027 World Cup."

The captain of the national team is another Dinamo player, Achille Polonara, the co-captain is Amedeo Tessitori.

Coach Luca Banchi is making his debut as national team coach: "We've had some productive days of training, and training in such a modern and welcoming facility has helped us. We absolutely must maximize our shared moments because we have limited time. I've found the boys to be very open to understanding each other and quickly getting to know each other. We want to try to put forth the best possible image. I can already assure you that there will be no shortage of spirit and determination, and we'll then try to improve our playing quality."
