"Sardinian families - but not only - should prepare for new increases in bills." The alarm comes from Adiconsum Sardegna which reports that prices on the island are falling "in slow motion" and for the food sector inflation is recording a +9.9 percent.
«Due to the still very high inflation rate, a family residing in Sardinia today finds itself spending an average of 1,438 euros more per year only as a result of the increases in retail price lists – explains the regional Adiconsum president Giorgio Vargiu – Only for the item "food products", prices in September recorded an annual increase of +9.9% against the +8.4% of the Italian average. Price lists are falling but in slow motion, and the trend could soon stop completely and reverse course: the war that broke out in Israel has led to a surge in energy prices on international markets. This means that heavy increases in electricity and gas tariffs for businesses and families could soon also be seen in Sardinia, with direct effects on retail prices linked to the higher energy costs incurred by industries and producers".
«An increase that would arrive at the worst moment, when Sardinian families turn on the heating and the greatest gas consumption is concentrated; a real blow that the Government must avoid at all costs by adopting appropriate countermeasures – adds Vargiu – In this situation of uncertainty and while waiting to understand how the energy market will evolve in the coming weeks, we advise families not to believe to the easy savings promises that come from free energy market companies, and to remain in the protected market, also in consideration of the possible extension of another 6 months to the Government's study".
