The theme “Maps for the Future” will guide the 2026 edition of Dall'altra Parte del Mare , the literary festival that from June 24th to 28th will transform Alghero into a great meeting place for literature, theater, cinema, and civil reflection.
An invitation to orient ourselves in the present through stories, ideas, and books, considered as true compasses for interpreting a changing world. The journey will begin on June 24th with an event dedicated to poetry, hosted at Sa Mandra in collaboration with the Narami festival: the protagonist will be Marcello Fois, who will discuss the collection Ogni cosa vede noi with Stefano Resmini.
The heart of the event will unfold between Lo Quarter, Piazza Sulis, the courtyard of the Sacro Cuore school, and Piazzale Lo Quarter. Guests expected include prominent figures in Italian and international culture, such as Marcello Fois, Widad Tamimi, Joanna Bator, Bruno Arpaia, Annalisa Camilli, Kader Abdolah, Abigail Assor, Luciana Castellina, and Ginevra Bompiani. There will also be space for younger audiences, with workshops and meetings for children, led by authors and educators including Andrea Vico, Teresa Porcella, and Roberta Balestrucci Fancellu.
The festival will also feature theater and film events, with Andrea Pennacchi and Peter Marcias's film Quasi Grazia , as well as readings by actor Gigio Alberti accompanied by Sardinian musicians. Sinologist Giada Messetti will close the festival with the lecture-performance "In the Head of the Dragon ." Conceived and organized by the Itinerandia Association together with Cyrano Libri Vino e Svago, with artistic direction by Elia Cossu and Maria Luisa Perazzona, the festival confirms Alghero as a hub for cultural dialogue in the Mediterranean, a place where the sea does not divide but unites stories, ideas, and perspectives on the future.
