Elected office allowances plus compensation for professional activities, employment, or other positions: mayors and local administrators in Sardinia will be able to continue to accumulate these if "private" income is not expected due to their administrative mandate.

This is the meaning of the authentic interpretation law approved today unanimously by the Regional Council, which clarifies the scope of the ban on cumulation provided for by the 2017 Stability Law.

The law establishes that the ban applies to positions held in local authorities, local authority bodies, regional administrations, and regional bodies when elective office is a necessary requirement for appointment or designation . However, positions related to the practice of a profession, subordinate employment relationships, and those assigned pursuant to specific legal provisions are exempt from the ban.

The law also specifies that reimbursement of documented expenses and attendance fees remain permitted within the limits established by law. The authentic interpretation, according to the proponents, serves to clarify that the 2017 provision was not intended to impact the professional or employment activities of administrators when these do not depend on their position. The measure does not entail new or increased financial burdens for the Region and cannot affect relationships established by final judgments. It will enter into force upon publication in the Official Bulletin of the Region.
