Plans to play Milan vs. Como in Perth have been scrapped . The "super-trip" has reportedly been cancelled "due to uncontainable financial risks , onerous approval requirements , and last-minute complications."

The Serie A League and the Western Australian government explained this in a statement. The plan to host the first official European Championship match outside of Australia in Perth has thus been shelved.

"We remain firmly convinced that this conclusion is a missed opportunity in the project of growing Italian football at an international level," commented Ezio Simonelli , president of the Lega Serie A.
