Undrinkable water in Laconi. This afternoon, the mayor issued an ordinance prohibiting its use for drinking purposes.

This was done after receiving the results of the tests conducted by ARPAS (the Italian Environmental Protection Agency) on the quality of the water supplied to the town from the Food and Nutrition Hygiene Service of the Oristano Local Health Authority. The tests revealed non-compliance with the minimum requirements for the parameters established by law. Coliform bacteria and intestinal enterococci were found to be outside the norm.

"Domestic and personal hygiene uses are permitted," the document states.

The ban is in effect until the Oristano Local Health Authority (ASL) notifies the water supply that it has returned to compliance with legal standards.
