The accident occurred on October 18th when Dr. Congia suffered a fall in Boroneddu. The 75-year-old retired physician was riding a pedal-assisted bicycle and, while riding down a downhill stretch of Via Giovanni XXIII, suddenly lost control of the bike and fell to the ground. The impact was very violent, and the doctor's condition immediately appeared critical. Emergency medical services arrived immediately, and Sandro Congia was transferred to the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro with a red code . He was then transferred to Cagliari, where he died yesterday at Brotzu Hospital. Carabinieri from the Ghilarza Company's mobile radio unit also responded to the scene, seizing the bicycle and launching investigations to determine the cause of the serious accident.
