Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec Uil are calling for an urgent meeting at Abbanoa's top management, contesting the appointment of the new CEO Salvatore Ledda , «member of the Board of Directors since March 2021 and now elected at the top», the unions say, denouncing «the inadequacy in management of a company that controls the governance of the public water good. A precious asset at risk - we read in the note from the acronyms - if we consider that the public concession will expire in 2025 and the push towards privatization is already taking away the sleep of workers , men and women, and trade unions due to the consequences that this could have to the detriment of the community ».

«In a few days the members' assembly (composed of the Region and Municipalities) will meet to discuss the 2023 budget and the conclusion of the mandate of this board of directors will be officially sanctioned - write the regional secretaries Francesco Garau (Filctem), Marco Nappi ( Femca) and Pier Luigi Loi (Uiltec) - there was no compelling reason for this appointment, an apparently useless and politically incorrect act if one considers that, as stated in article 13 of the Statute, it is the competence of the shareholders' meeting to appoint a new Board of Directors upon expiry of the current one's mandate ".

According to the unions, rapid intervention by the Region and the Municipalities is necessary.

«The future of Abbanoa and the management of water supply in Sardinia - conclude Garau, Nappi and Loi - must remain in public hands , guarantee an efficient service for citizens and respect the rights of workers who carry out their activities every day with dedication and professionalism."
