The tribute to Amy Winehouse is the second event in the "Voci di donna" series, curated by the Cooperativa Teatro e/o Musica. On Thursday at 8:30 pm, the queen of white soul will be revived at the Teatro Verdi in Sassari in the concert-performance "Io & Amy - Quello che vorrei detto a Amy Winehouse" (Amy & Me - What I Wanted to Say to Amy Winehouse ).
On stage Manuela Loi on vocals and her Soul Band made up of Virgilio Atzori on bass, Pier Paolo Cardia on piano, Chiara Faedda and Valentina Scanu on backing vocals, and with the extraordinary participation of the percussionist of the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio Ernesto Lopez Maturell.
The show, by Cagliari's Teatro del Segno, is conceived and written by Paolo Putzu and performed by Stefano Ledda, who also directs it. The journey begins in a recording studio at Island Records, Amy Winehouse's label, and is the flow of memories of a man who lived through the blaze of lights and the abyss of the storm of shadows that surrounded the life and talent of the British singer-songwriter, who died at 27 like other great artists such as Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain.
Paul, the show's protagonist, recounts the profound sense of a guilt he doesn't have and perhaps never has: a journey through the furrows of memory and music that spills onto the stage and the tables of that smoky club where a world music icon began, all the way to fame at London's Astoria Theatre.
