The "Cant de la Sibil la," a prophetic paraliturgical chant that has been performed in Alghero and throughout Catalonia for seven hundred years, is also coming to Encamp, a town in the Principality of Andorra twinned with Alghero. The concert in Catalan, promoted by the Arte in Musica cultural association of Alghero, will be performed on Monday at 5:00 pm in the church of Santa Eulàlia.

The concert will feature the Alghero Polyphonic Choir directed by Ugo Spanu, with the narration of Carmela Mura Monfardino and Giuseppe Calaresu, alternating instrumental and choral musical interventions, with the Joves Ensemble choir prepared by Maria Gabriella Mura, Fabio Frigato on the organ, Alessia Sassu on the cello, Manuele Costantino on the trumpet, Riccardo Collu on percussion and Gabriele Catalano in the role of Sibil·ler.

The elaborations on Gregorian melodies, composed by Ugo Spanu, and the pieces of contemporary polyphony will be accompanied by organ performances, accompanying the spectator to listen to the Senyal del Judici of Alghero, in the version for choir, soloist and instruments developed by Stefano Garau, as it is still sung today in the cathedral of Alghero.

This morning, at 11 a.m., a conference will be held in the church of Sant Miquel on "The Senyal of the Judici, from Word to Image and Song. From Ancient Prophecies to the Song of the Sibyl of Alghero," with speakers Carmela Mura Monfardino and Giuseppe Calaresu.
