A hymn of life against illness: the Cagliari-born Maestro Tusacciu conducts the orchestra
A concert involving internationally renowned artists and musicians suffering from Parkinson's disease. Like Tusacciu himself: «You certainly don't play with your hands, but with your brain»A symphony of perseverance and a hymn to life. These are the notes that will be played on Saturday 25 November at the G.Verdi Conservatory in Milan for "Nelle mie corde", the first concert of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Grigioni Foundation.
A project born from the collaboration between professional musicians with and without disabilities , and symbolizes an extraordinary model of inclusiveness with the aim of improving the quality of life of people affected by Parkinson's, the most widespread movement disorder in the world and which represents, after Alzheimer's disease, the most frequent primary neurodegenerative disease.
To dismantle the stigmas surrounding the disease, the concert involves internationally renowned artists and musicians affected by Parkinson's disease. Like the conductor, the Cagliari-born Maestro Andrea Tusacciu: «I received the diagnosis in 2019, even though the first symptoms date back to 2015. From that moment I had to start slowing down the pace, because the life of a musician is too hectic . I dedicated myself to organizing musical events." But then that podium on the stage, his great love, called him back with a loud voice. « You certainly don't play with your hands, but with your brain . And music gives you enormous gratification, which is not comparable to many other things."
«It is the first time that an initiative of this kind has been launched – says Gianni Pezzoli, President of the Grigioni Foundation for Parkinson's Disease -. We were encouraged by Maestro Andrea Tusacciu who showed great enthusiasm, so much so that he totally involved us in an initiative of this nature. We can only hope that the program is "in everyone's heart" and that all our friends will come with us to applaud the artists in the Sala Verdi at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan."
Also on stage is the Cagliari violinist Anna Tifu, an international star. «I am very excited and honored to be here – she explains -. Andrea Tusacciu, my great friend, got me involved, but for us artists it is a privilege to contribute with music to an event of such emotional importance."
The first part will begin with Gabriel's oboe, a musical piece written by Ennio Morricone for the 1986 film “Mission” which will see Luca Vignali, first oboe at the Rome Opera Theater Orchestra, on stage; then it will continue with some famous opera arias by G.Bizet (Habanera / Carmen) and G.Verdi (De' mie boilenti ordini / La Traviata; God of Judas! / Nabucco; Ah, la paterna mano and Pietà, respected, love / Machbet; Ave Maria / Otello; Di geloso amor sprezzato / Il Trovatore), performed by opera singers such as the soprano Paoletta Marrocu, the tenor Giuseppe Talamo and the baritone Alberto Gazale.
In the second part there will be the moment of autumnal atmospheres and the intense emotional concentration of the two movements from the Oasis of melancholy for oboe and strings by the Venetian violinist and composer V. Fael , followed by the famous Triple Concerto in C major for piano, violin, cello and orchestra op. 56 by LV Beethoven whose performance is entrusted to extraordinary musicians such as Tifu but also the cellist Enrico Dindo and the Greek pianist Theodosia Ntokou.
